Arandora Star Memorial & Service - Birmingham

Below is a copy of the letter received from Peter Brady one of the memorial organising committee.

As this is the first Memorial to the victims of the Arandora Star I feel it is an historical event also. I have researched the names and designed a plaque, Mr Thomas Fattorini of Fattorini's Ltd agreed to supply and donate the plaque as he considered it "A Worthy Cause", it is a work of art.

Firstly there will be a mass at Saint Michaels Church, Moor Street, Birmingham said for the victims and to give a final resting place. Time 1:10 pm (13:10) afternoon.

Afterwards a plaque will be unveiled in the church to the 4 Birmingham victims 3 crew and 1 soldier, again, donated by Thomas Fatorini, (picture below). Assisting in the unveiling is Felippo Libra the Vice Consul of Italy in Birmingham and Dorothy Bradbury relation of Anthony Grego, who has been a driving force for this day.

Afterwards there will be a reception at the Woodman Inn, New Canal Street opposite Millenium Point were a second plaque will be unveiled by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, said plaque donated by Taroni's of Birmingham. No picture available. Organised by Ann Moore.
